Collection: 2026 Feature Artist: Gabrielle Young

Gabrielle Young is a Melbourne based artist who has developed her own distinctive style with the medium of ink.

With a passion for intricate subjects, Gabrielle's artworks often feature detailed illustrations using very fine ink pens.  She adds ink applied in layers to create bold background colour, building the mood of each piece.

She loves working with ink because of the intensity of colour and the interesting background effects she can achieve with this medium.

In addition to original artworks, Gabrielle carves, hand-prints and hand-paints limited-edition linocuts.

Her linocuts also feature a high level of detail as she explores and stylizes patterns found in nature.

Gabrielle aims to create the perception of movement in her work and to evoke a sense of calm, beauty or joy.

Much of her artwork is inspired by nature; the beauty of textures and patterns in the landscape, sea life and birds.

She additionally creates larger works inspired by human nature; clocks, cogs, keys and locks, which are symbolic representations of mood and emotion, time and memory, and human connections.

You'll be able to experience Gabrielle's wonderful artwork in person at the 2026 Mount Eliza Art & Design Show. And, you can find out more about Gabrielle and her work on her website, on Facebook and Instagram.
