ABOUT THE ARTWORK

  • Raymond’s Backyard $460.00 - 65(h) x 65(w) cm including frame.  Archival inks on 300gsm archival cotton rag paper framed in oak, black or white.  Limited Edition of 25 prints.

"On a trip to Raymond Island situated within the Gippsland Lakes, each evening we were graced with a ritual of a large koala I called ‘Raymond’ strolling from the backyard to the front yard, right past the outdoor table we were gathered around. Such an incredible sight to witness, with the photos of ‘Raymond’ that I eagerly snapped, I decided to use one to paint this artwork of him as he graciously meandered past us each night, through ‘his’ backyard, with the sunset blanketing his thick fur and the dewy grass."

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Aidan Weichard is a Melbourne-based artist, whose creative process is ever-evolving, with the constant being his subject matter. Native Australian flora and fauna are commonly depicted in Weichard’s works and are symbolic of his affection toward the Australian landscape. Weichard grew up in Gembrook surrounded by bushland where he quickly developed a spiritual connection with the land and its animal inhabitants, both of which have become integral not only to his creative practice, but to his personal identity.

The artist’s message is simple: ‘Mindful reflection of this amazing place, and the incredible things within it’...
