The first Mount Eliza Art Exhibition was held in 1978, and has since become a major annual event for the Mount Eliza North Primary School and art aficionados alike. 2017 marks the 39th annual exhibition, which continues to attract over 2000 people over the course of the weekend.
The Exhibition is the school’s major fundraising activity for the year and involves the entire school community in some way. Through the 25% commission charged on most sales, we are able to raise funds for the school to enhance the educational future for our children and help to provide facilities and services above and beyond what most schools can offer.
With many new artists wanting to exhibit we will have a showcase of talent in all mediums including a wonderful Sculpture display and Functional Design section. This will encompass a number of artistic works from beautiful hand blown glassware to ornate Christmas decorations. Our Jewellery section is one of our major drawcards and offers a plethora of pieces to suit all tastes and price ranges.
Once again a fantastic range of paintings and photography will be on show and will include works from hugely popular local artists, established and respected contemporary artists and new and emerging talents. To ensure a high calibre of work is on display, entry is by invitation only.
Each year, the Exhibition Committee invites an artist to become our feature artist for that year. They very kindly agree to donate a piece of their work to become First Prize in our raffle and their work is displayed prominently at the exhibition.
We are of course hugely grateful to all of our wonderful partners and sponsors that make this event possible.
We look forward to seeing you in October.
